About the Role:

Vera is building the trust and safety layer for enterprise AI, that helps companies unlock the value of AI through enterprise governance and control for generative AI. Vera firewalls sensitive information from leaving your enterprise, and moderates unwanted responses from harming your brand. Our solution sits between users and models, with role based access control, ensuring that internal teams can't ask questions that contain sensitive information, PII, Intellectual Property, hacking attempts, or questions that may otherwise fall outside of acceptable use. 

Using your technical expertise and experience you will be responsible for bridging the gap between inspired design and the technical implementation of net-new customer-facing features and functionalities. Your work will need to balance between the functional and aesthetic design, while ensuring the experiences are optimized for all devices and user personas.

As the foundational front end developer in a venture-backed startup, you will work alongside the CTO, and other engineers (backend and data) to deliver critical project priorities, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance front end applications within the Vera platform. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Skills We Are Looking For:

1. Expert-level applied experience in HTML, CSS,  JS
   

2. Expert-level experience with at least one of the modern SPA frameworks (React, Vue, Nuxt, Angular etc.)
   

2. Experience or a deep understanding of statically rendered websites, their benefits, and drawbacks
   

3. Focus on the readability & maintainability of code
   

4. Implement cross-browser compatible features as a baseline
   

5. Strategically choose solutions that support efficiency in rendering, loading, and painting of the page on the full spectrum of devices and networks 
   

6. Balance design aesthetics with accessibility, while seeking opportunities to push the boundaries of the web as a medium
   

7. Basic knowledge of Search Engine Optimization process
   

8. Take personal responsibility for deadlines, code quality, and tasks
   

9. Experience collaborating with and mentoring other developers
   

10. Frameworks
    

• Excellent Knowledge of Python Django and/or Flask Framework (must have)
  

• Deep Knowledge of design, build out and use of RESTful APIs(must have)
  

• Knowledge of object-relational mapping (ORM)
  

Good To Have:

• Version control experience (i.e. git, Github, svn, etc.)
  

• Docker and Docker registry applied experience
  

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the design of and review of web and mobile application design deliverables (wireframes, layouts, design mockups etc..)
  

• Build, validate, and maintain web and mobile applications from wireframe/design layouts
  

• Translate UI/UX wireframes to code
  

• Use mobile first strategy to determine code structure and functionality
  

• Support and implement best practices for layouts, navigation, architecture, and site speed
  

• Partner with platform engineering, back-end developers, product managers and users to incorporate feedback
  

• Participate in design reviews with the CTO, Head of Platforms, peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  

• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  

• Assist in user acceptance testing prior to code releases and launches
  

• Monitor site performance to identify and fix usability issues
  

• Drive innovation in front end tooling and technology.
